There are loads of things you could say Chance. Id say be patient. Have an alternative way of money (a job), and dont expect too much from your first effort.
Practice practice practice. TRY not to get jaded and remain optimistic. Keep a sense of humour on all counts. Dont take it too seriously. Know your equipment, feed your gang. Prepare.
Oh and dont get too pissed before a shoot unless you are really comfortable with it. (Im talking from mucho experience....)
Theres my tenpenneth worth.,

I think that I've already answered a question like this which is reflected in my signiture.
KEEP FOCUSED on your film.
If you keep putting it off and putting it off, then it'll never get done.
Do just one thing per day that gets your film closer to being made.
It could be find an actor, write a page of script, find a crew, speak to someone about permissions for filming, but do it!

One filmmaking tip? I'd have to say don't spend a lot of money on your first few films, get free actors (i.e. friends) and be your own crew. Borrow cameras and other equipment. You'll get great experience and won't have to dish out thousands. I made a feature for $150 (99.77 pounds) doing this.

thats more than one tip 8 1/3,
just one tip, for example;
a wheel chair makes a top in-expensive dolly
or dried wetabix on an actors face gives them a nasty skin completion
but one and one only , all will become clear when therres a few more on the list

Chromatic abheration - eg lens flare, torchlight through fog/smoke.
Pretty effect, but use it sparingly and in context.

When trying to work out where the camera should be........always think "where is the best seat in the house"
